Birthday Cakes

I came to realise that you know, somehow the cake part of birthday celebrations are a pretty good indicator of a person's maturity. I mean in the past we all used to want those fancy cakes, with the little toy cars or other fancy inedible decorations. Taste of cake also wasn't exactly an issue back then, everything pretty much tasted the same xD Becoming taste oriented, having good tasting cake, having a good looking cake (plain in most cases, elegant in its simplicity). In the past we used to be pretty uppity about the candles on the cake as well, wanting to have that exact number of candles, and not just one big one, as the grown ups had it. Blowing out the candle, reduced from a big huff and puff to a minimal, slightly sophisticated with the hint of cool, almost whistle like blow. Cutting of the cake reduced from a big ceremonious two-handed chop of the cake, to a calculated , maximizing cake area slice. The most important part, making a wish before blowing out the candle reduced to nothing. Thus concludes the maturing of a person, from bouncy, happy, carefree child to a (for a lack of words) mature teen, or young adult.
